Classical dance, ballet

Classical dance is the foundation on whose traditions, methodicity and systematic approach tens of dancer generations were brought up. The structure of classes is divided into two parts: exercises at the bar and free exercise in the dance area. Classic dance concentrates on developing the upper and lower limbs so that they are able to express different qualities of movement. The lower limbs gradually become lighter, quick and essentially animate, able to express any kind of musical structure. The upper limbs together with the trunk become plastic, noble and elegant. In the techniqe of classical dance, much attention is paid to the poise of the body and the balance in different postures. Thereby the dancer gains perfect control over his or her body and skill in aesthetic expression in both slow and fast pace. Typical of classical dance is also the technique of leaps, which is given just as much focus in the structure of lessons.

Linking together the variety of form and control over detail, the poesy of body, of musical feeling is brought to life. The form of classical dance is very exact; therefore students learn discipline and subtlety as well, both essential in higher, more virtuoso requirements of dance performance. Since the students of Tangere Dance Studio are people of different age groups and are given the opportunity to work to the level of competence they choose, we try to adapt the technical realisation of particular elements to their capabilities.

What we must say though is that with this type of movement we cannot promise the same as with other types of lessons - either quick results or fun. The technique of classical dance is demanding and is intended for those who wish to improve their dance performance. We cannot help those who lack the intention to improve themselves and are satisfied with themselves. The only way to develop is regularity, attention to detail and inner discipline.
